Experience the Direct Primary Care Difference

The Direct Primary Care model allows your physician to get to know you as a person, not just your medical conditions.

Dr. Correa believes the first tenet of primary care is to help each patient identify and achieve their health goals while also reducing unnecessary suffering. In medical school and residency, she kept the motto “Listen long enough, and the patient will tell you their diagnosis.”

She found that patients who are treated by doctors in the traditional insurance-based model suffer from hurried, fragmented visits, erroneous billing, and generally feeling like items on a conveyor belt. She believes there is a better way to meet patients’ needs, and hopes to treat you with the specialized attention you deserve.

Meet Dr. Correa

Dr. Correa grew up in Huntington Beach and attended Smith/Dwyer/HBHS, but left the sunshine behind to attend UC Berkeley, graduating with Honors as a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Metabolism. She pursued medical school at SUNY Downstate in NYC and then moved back to Southern California to complete internship & residency training in Internal Medicine at USC. She became Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and worked for a medical home visit company and Kaiser Permanente shortly after residency.

She was recruited to the Internal Medicine Department at Hoag Medical Group and served there for nearly 6 years from 2018-2023, earning OC Top Doctor nominations along the way. During this time, Dr. Correa also committed to her lifelong interests in nutrition & metabolism by obtaining Board Certification from the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2021. She also had the honor of joining the Physician Advisory Council for Menopause in 2023, to help develop the Midlife Women’s Health Program at Hoag. In 2024, Dr. Correa expounded on this interest in menopause care by becoming a Certified Menopause Provider with the North American Menopause SocietyBut the thought always returned to her: she doesn’t like 10-minute manicures; why should her patients settle for less when it comes to addressing their health concerns?

In 2023, Dr. Correa decided to launch Connected Internal Medicine, a practice she had dreamt about for almost two decades. By providing patient care directly, she can spend more energy connecting with her patients and focusing on their well-being instead of worrying about the bureaucracy a large medical institution creates. Dr. Correa spends her time outside of patient care reading the most up-to-date literature and consulting the best specialists for her patients’ challenges, instead of on the processes that interfere with proper medical care like checking boxes.  When you have any concerns about your health, Dr. Correa & Connected Internal Medicine are there with you and for you.

She and her husband are blessed with two spunky daughters and too many houseplants to count. She loves trying new foods, reading, road trips, and anything outdoors. Above all, Dr. Correa loves being a primary care physician and can’t wait to help you meet your health goals!
